MATTER OVER MIND

Mind over Matter is a phrase used in several contexts such as parapsychology, philosophy, and other mind-centered doctrines. However, Mahatman Philosophy promotes the notion of “Matter Over Mind” – a situation wherein you have to endure the pain of the body and keep going; you need to improve your mood through physical actions.

Mahatman’s Matter Over Mind.

The human mind is quick to justify feelings, however sometimes incorrectly. Our mind is not hindered by any limitations of space or time, unlike our body. This is great for creative thinking but it can also lead to some false assumptions. The mind likes to give deep meaning to everything, nevertheless, some things are not so intense and huge. Sometimes whatever we feel is not so serious than needing to attend our basic functions. By tinkering with the body instead, we can give a mental break for a change. Matter can and does influence your mind and hence your mood.

Enduring the pain that the mind thinks the body is going through and keeping the pain is what the whole concept of Matter Over Mind deals with. Pain tolerance is something that is built up over time, with experience. Leaning into the pain by performing painful activities, naturally increases your tolerance level over time. Pain acts as a barometer for your state of mind. Pain is not constant; it is purely psychosocial and your tolerance level also depends on what is happening in the rest of your life. As you become more comfortable with pain, you will get more insights about your own behavior and attitudes. Pain becomes valuable when you view it in a positive way. Imagine the pain from a physical workout, we call it pleasure-pain. If we conceptualize pain, we actively shape how we view it and how well we tolerate it.

I have a very practical approach; sometimes I feel our brain health can get jeopardized and can, therefore, lead to poor self-esteem, poor concentration, foggy brain, and anxiety. Our brain relies on so many things like sleep, oxygen, exercise, and the environment, and therefore would be unable to function properly. So it seems more practical to change the matter to improve the mind.

While walking, if you feel pain, it is not necessary that what the mind thinks is pain and we should stop doing it anymore. Keep Matter Over Mind, cross the feeling of pain and go to the next stage.

So While doing any physical exercise, pause, and note when you encounter such a feeling. Toss yourself with a question: Is it your mind behind all this?
